Currently most of AR and VR glasses are powered by laptop and desktop computers. There is no mobile solutions. For example, Oculus user have to connect the glasses module to a stationary desktop with several cables to power the glasses and play games. On the other hand, ICE xPC provides mobility, flexibility, and sustainability to the AR/VR devices. Depends on the implementation, AR/VR user can connect their glasses to a pocket-able ICE xPC through a single cable, or simply insert ICE xPC into a slot on the glasses without using any cable. In addition, ICE xPC Pro has Intel Core i processor inside, which can perform data acquisition and processing, gesture recognition, 3D object positioning, and 3D Image generation, etc. that smartphone can?t do.
ICE Computer is a provider of modular computers for Internet, Communication, and Entertainment (ICE?). We are a startup company with an R&D team in Silicon Valley and a manufacturing team in Taiwan. Our founders are experienced entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley with backgrounds as co-founder/CEO/CTO of several companies, experienced with startups, technology building, operations, and M&A activities. We have been working on modular computers for more than two years.
A modular computer is much smaller, lighter, and more flexible than anything else currently available. Its modularization enables more product offerings, customization, and localization through dynamic module combinations. The sharing and reuse of modules eliminates the costs of buying multiple software licenses and redundant hardware. Another feature is the ease of upgrading the ICE xPC. The ICE xPC is a green computing designed with the future and sustainability in mind. The ICE xPC is one-for-all or all-for-one for easy interchange and to facilitate upgrades. To upgrade, you just simply plug-and-play a new ICE xPC into existing peripherals and reuse them, which creates minimal electronic waste. This novel modular computer can save you a considerable amount of money as well as help save the environment.
It depends on its CPU?s thermal design power (TDP): some high power ICE xPC?s use a heatsink and fan to dissipate heat like a traditional laptop computer.
The rechargeable battery keeps the xPad and connected xPC going for up to 10 hours, depending on the type of CPU installed inside the ICE xPC. A low-power ARM CPU can last for up to 10 hours, while a high-power x86 CPU would last much less.
We have many novel inventions and have already filed more than 10 patent applications in major countries, including the USA, Japan, China, Taiwan, and the EU.
Flexibility is what we have in mind when designing this product. The ICE xPC allows users to pick ?task base form factor? such as a 5? portable LCD or a 24? monitor that provides the best display for a given project. It also allows users to use already-owned display devices.
We have prototyped the ICE xKeyboard with single touch Trackpad and are preparing for manufacturing. However we are working on a new model that can support multiple touches for better gesture operation. We will release additional details when the product is ready for manufacturing.
We modified one of the ALT keys next to the space bar as a Trackpad toggle key (similar to the caps lock key). You can simply turn Trackpad function on or off by pressing the toggle key. The integration is handy and space saving.
